Landing 'behind the curve'.....

Cheers:
About two years ago, it may have been Graham Singleton who was
remarking on the approach and landing characteristics of the Europa. His
description of the need to get "back" on the airspeed in order to reduce the
chance for a bounce was clear and understandable.
In the article (not really sure of the author) he stated
something like ".... add power and fly more slowly....". There was a query
shortly afterward asking how you could add power and fly more slowly. This
was followed by a discussion about being "behind the power curve" and
related topics, but I'm not sure it was fully answered.
The June 2001 issue of Sport Aviation from the eaa sets this
down very clearly in an TEST PILOT article by Ed Kolano which describes
Flight Path Stability. A series of curves describes the forces at play
during the approach which clearly explains the choices and precautions for
the aviator who lacks formal aerodynamic training - and for whom perhaps a
short review would bring the forces into focus. Next month he plans to bring
out techniques for producing your own flight stability curves.
            Just a thought..........
Happy landings
