Cheers:
I am keen to see what results you International (if not
Intercontinental) types are getting from your peregrinations.
Some years ago, while writing a logbook program for all my types, I
kept track of every minute and mile. I took the standard atmosphere
conditions for cruise figures on each of as number of a/cx types, and
the total time (chock to chock) and floght plan distance. The latter
gave Average speed, as a factor of the former.
The results were amazing to me. From F-86 to North Star, and Republic
Seabee to L1011, Piper Cub to P-51 and so on, the average speeds worked
out to 61% of the cruise - within 2%! To prove the approximation, I then
took my log in distance and factored in average speed. The times came
out within 1 or 2%!
Best to try it yourself, but I found that altho' the smaller planes
cruised closer to stall, they also 'meandered' more, so to keep the 61%
mire closely. The Europa appears to me to be of that ilk. That way, one
can guess within fairly small limits, the mileage accrued when flying
locally. The taxi times also mitigate the differences in speed ranges.
        Give it a try.......
