You don't have to remove it. It is only 5mm or so long by 3mm diameter and
just assists with locating the door and stopping the bulge. You need to slope
it inwards just slightly to accomodate the rotational movement of the door as
it is swung closed.
(Guess who spent a lot of time at Oshkosh crawling on, in and around N512XS!)
