Shortest leg out of Godthaab would be over to Iqaluit (the erstwhile
Frobisher before the mass Inuitization of place names in the Great White
North). From there on, most traffic down to the civilized (OK, for you
Brits, civilised) parts of Canada and on to the US (not even a hint of
civiliz(s)ation down here!) routes via Kujjuaq (former Ft. Chimo),
Schefferville, Wabush, Quebec and onward. Once down as far as Quebec
City the earth is essentially carpeted with airports both in Canada and
the US.

Want a pilot or copilot for your "mother ship?" I can provide charts, a
dinghy, one survival suit in addition to my own, a couple of HFs, and
loads of experience. Based on which, I think the idea of "dropping a
life raft" is a non-starter. Unless deployed from, and initially moored
to, the distressed aircraft, a life raft will almost always drift lots
faster than anyone can swim.

        best regards, PSL
