I bought a couple of Terra (now Trimble) units from Aircraft Spruce in
the UK when building my panel - plus a lot of other gear. Very good
company - excellent service - and more than helpful - they even do an
ASI for the Europa. Problem is what to do when they go wrong. I could
have sent them back to the States via Spruce for repair or even as it
turned out direct to the factory, but decided to use a recommended UK
distributor, THURSTONS, ( one of the very few who in the UK are
authorised to do repairs to the Terra units), because I was in a hurry.
Certainly a mistake - didn't have the necessary warranty paperwork at
the time and got charged a quarter of what they cost ( that's aircraft
repairs in the UK for you) - Trimble have done the necessary, but the
chance of obtaining a refund from Thurstons seems to be receding. Next
time I will send back directly to Trimble - as Graham S. suggested at
the time. What is it about aircraft electonics? My new Dave Clarks also
stopped working - sent them back to the factory and got a replacement
set in 10 days. Now that really is service!
