Good question - I completely failed using thin lines in spite of trying a
range of viscosities - thick lines must surely lay down too heavy a
coating involving weight and more sanding. Then there is the problem of
hoping their trace will disappear plus the tedium of moving them about
and using them on smaller more convoluted bits. My main pillars rest on:
a) don't touch the coating after it's reasonably smooth- chasing marks
---From the scraper is fatal.

b) use a mix which would drip, but get gravity and surface tension on
your side- i.e. orient the surface to the horizontal, even though that
means working in smaller areas

c) paint the stuff on to get best consistency of weight/unit area.

d) use a powerful accurate sander with a range of grits -messaqe no.

Ron's rebuttal is awaited with interest. After all almost everyone must
be more experienced than I am at this !
