But how do you handle parts that disappear into black holes? 

I have recently discovered one in my garage. It has an incredible
attraction for door hinges which, due to the fact that the hinge wire is
straight, easily fall off during the multiple rigging and derigging that
you do. Somewhere on the far side of the universe there are now three
hinges orbiting a newly created star!
