Tony,
It's entirely possible and not that difficult to get the cloth in to the recess
in one piece.
Trick is to lay in four sides with the cloth weave "square", then work down the
corners by shrinking the cloth in to the corners.
Repeat at a rotational offset of 45 degrees.

To me it would seem likely people cut the cloth and overlapped it in
the corners, but my local Europa mentor guru managed to do it without cutting
the plies, twice. I'm anticipating disaster with this layup and wondering about
whether those that have gone before me can offer up some sage advice. Anything
