Hi Nigel,
Why would you worry about the sternpost carrying some of the load? The way it is
reduxed in, well I would think it should make no difference as it is such a
strong member. I for example am building a Classic, but have incorporated a 
sternpost.
My tail spring sits quite tightly in the sternpost, and mine is a mono
wheel, actually a taildragger. Id like to know if anyone else sees this as an
issue?

P.S. I have thought of reinforcing the tail area nevertheless, as that hole for
access is a big one.
