Hi Fred

If you want it to 'happen' in the amp meter then you need a great thick wir
e
all the way to and from the amp meter. Heavy and best avoided in my view.

I think Graham means a short bit of wire with known resistance.

Presumably one could connect a resistance in parallel down at the battery
and get the data across that? No sure of the maths on that idea but is
should be possible and would be fail safe.

You can measure current by noting the voltage drop across a short length of

wire, very small drop in the case of the main buss but still measurable.
Then, Amps equals Volts divided by Resistance

Graham...OK...but doesn't that all happen within the amp meter?...if I
understand Frans correctly, he's calling for the addition of a resistor in
the line back at the battery...(?)...Fred
