Richard, I have an iPad and love it. It has become my European flying
companion, and I have thrown my old laptop away (or at least given it to my
wife!) I haven't tried using it in the air, preferring to do the time
consuming/distracting bits on the ground, but I guess it would work. The
only snag is that 3G services still cost an arm and a leg on the continent,
so I just use it on the hotel wifi systems. As far as apps go I find World
Aviation weather is great - Tafs & metars instantaneously for anywhere in
the world and put into readily digestible form. Apart from this I haven't
found any to supplant the various weather links on the guernseyaeroclub site
+ a great new site from Leeds (rasp.inn.leedsmet.ac.uk/RASPtable.html) which
gives cloud base predictions around the UK, including the channel
Happy Xmas, David Joyce, G-XSDJ
