This is my first posting having been a regular reader of this forum over the
last 5 / 6 years.
Just to inform you that at 19:15hrs on Monday the 22nd June 2009, at
Wombleton Airfield, North Yorkshire, G-SAMY (kit No: 221) left terra firma
for the first time under the expert control of Ivan Shaw. On return to the
ground he announced that she flew beautifully with no obvious vices.
The build time is around 3.5 years, although I haven't yet calculated the
actual time.
I was given a short flight after the initial flight and was speechless on
how well she flew. I am still smiling several days after the initial flight.
I can now understand all the comments on the forum from fellow Europa fliers
who have described the same feelings as I am now feeling myself.
My thanks go to John and Roger at Europa who introduced me to Neville Eyre
who with Duncan, helped and advised throughout to achieve the high standard
of completion. Without their advice and assistance the project would still
be at a very early stage of the build.
