I am talking about the late 70s and early 80s now. I had BMs (R100RS)
because the reliability issues with the 900ss and their bretheren put me
off.
When they went they went really well - as Mike the bike's victories in IoM
desmonstrate.
New dukes are a bit different - so my mate who has the latest whatever it is
now ? 916?? Tells me.

I am now on my fourth Duke and never had a Reg. failure although i have
heard of them failing with some owners, incidently, they were all fitted
with an alloy plate (heatsink ) on the rear face - somthing which is not
mentioned on the aircraft installation...
i've mounted mine below the oil tank , it looks as if in that position it
will be blasted by the air flow from the naca duct in the stb. lower cowl
and should be in cooler air after shutdown - i hope!
