I just spent about 4 hours changing out my Rotax 914 ignition module
"rubber isolation mounting bushings". It appears as though the rubber
bushings cracked themselves into two halves, as did the aluminum "L
bracket" which attaches one of the rubber bushings to the engine block.
This is just a note to all 912 and 914 pilots out there to keep an eye
on these bushings for possible future problems. Because of the
engineering/packaging, they are an absolute nightmare to change out,
without disassembling half the entire engine........just to get to the
*#$% nuts and bolts. Out of curiosity, has anyone else experienced a
problem with these rubber bushings breaking? I have about 450 hours
over 6 years on this engine.
