Willie,

Out of interest, what's your engine? The reason I ask is that I thought one
of the quoted advantages of the Rotax is that the water-cooled heads mean
there is no shock-cooling issue to worry about.

Kind regards,
Jeremy

How extensively does anyone else's aircraft get stained by exhaust? Mine
picks up a pale beige streak going almost to the trailing edge of the
wing, including a covering of the inboard flap hinge cover. It seems to
come off with water and a sponge however.

On a related topic, the fuselage in that area was seriously heat damaged
soon after I got the aircraft by a combination of, a) misaligned exhaust
stub (pointing straight back), b) sideslipping under power (to descend
fast from altitude without over cooling the engine). Pretty dim, really,
but someone out there might still learn from this.
