If you apply some super glue to the cable and then cut it with a
minidrill and abrasive disc it will not fray and you will be able to
push it through the crimp without any difficulty at all. Avoid the fumes
though as they are a trifle noxious!

If you don't have a minidrill and abrasive cutter, get one as it is
without doubt the most useful tool I have used in building our Europa.
