Greetings All,
I recently had the pleasure of losing brake force on one side of my
trigear while landing.
I found the polyflo fitting at the caliper was newly leaking. The fluid
was depleted
so I refilled the system and tightened the fitting. The next week, the
other brake
did the same. Having built the plane in Florida, I am forced to wonder if
the cold
wx in New York is responsible. Several other folks have mentioned the
difficulties
with keeping the polyflo compression fittings tight.
As an aside, looking through the web literature for polyflo info, I
discover that the hose
bursts at 500 psi whereas the Matco calipers require 450 psi for maximal
brake force.
I plan to switch to nylaflow with a/c grade fitting as soon as my fingers
thaw!
