I wouldn't be too worried about the THIN layer of Redux (Araldite 420
A/B)
Quoting from the Ciba Product Data Sheet for Araldite 420 A/B (Redux) it
says - A layer of adhesive 0.05 to 0.10 mm thick will normally impart the
greatest lap shear strength to a joint.
I also understand the minute glass balls in the yellow paste that makes it
feel gritty when mixing, prevent surfaces from squeezing out too much
adhesive even if you bolt them up.
