Hi Ron,

FAR 61.31(e)(1) defines a complex airplane as having "retractable landing
gear, flaps and a controllable pitch propeller", so I think a mono airplane
(short wings) is considered complex.  But the motorglider is not an airplane
but a glider, so it's not a complex airplane (same applies to tailwheel, its
not an airplane).

Paul brings up an interesting point with 61.31(k)(2)(iii) but I think that
the FAA would argue that the complex and tailwheel endorsements are not
"limitations" but are "Additional training required".
