It is smaller gauge gauze than that issued with my water drain kit.

nation wide in the UK. The diameter is about 3" but after removing the top
ring it is possible to reduce the diameter to the necessary 1.75" by folding
the cylinder of Gauze. It then just needs sizing for length and the top
expanding to close the filler neck and it sits in place and can be removed
to check out for any caught debris.
