I deleted the information about the June fly in in Tenn. Where is it, and
what commercial airports are near? It looks like we will need to come
commercial unless someone in FL has a couple of seats open. We are anxious to
go,
sounds like a great time!

Hi All,

John Lawton here, aka Europa A-245. My brother and I are hosting the first
annual Europa Fly-In at our field (TN89, Atlanta Sectional, north side, shown as

"Matthew's). The field is located near Whitwell, TN, about 20 miles due north
of Chattanooga. The Fly-In will be on June 5-6, 2004. Although this is an
informal gathering, we are planning a cookout for Saturday night, rain or shine,

and I would imagine that Saturday and part of Sunday will be spent swapping
stories and building tricks with other Europaphiles.

The closest commercial airport is Chattanooga (CHA), although it's cheaper to
fly into Nashville (BNA) and rent a car. We're about 2 hours drive Southeast
---From Nashville.

Depending on which airport you'd like to fly into:

---From Chattanooga, take I-24 north towards Nashville to Exit 155 (Jasper,
TN/Hwy 28). Go North on Hwy 28 18.1 miles and turn right onto Condra Switch.
There

will be a sign and balloons at the turn. Proceed 3/4ths of a mile and turn
right onto Condra Road. You will see the airport on the right. Approximate drive

time is 30 minutes.

---From Nashville, take I-24 south to Exit 155 (Jasper, TN/Hwy 28) Go North on
Hwy 28 18.1 miles and turn left on Condra Switch. There will be a sign and
ballons at the turn. Proceed 3/4ths of a mile and turn right on Condra Road. You

will see the airport on the right. Approximate drive time is 2 hours.

If anybody would like to see an overhead picture of our field check out
www.airnav.com. Click on "Airports" and enter TN89 as the identifier. Other
contact
information, long and lat, etc., is also available here.

If anybody needs a list of nearby hotels and motels contact me off list and
I'll e-mail a list to you. We will have a courtesy van available for those
staying in motels. We have on field showers and toilet facilities for those who

wish to camp.

For those flying in, we monitor 123.5 Mhz. Please call us on approach to
announce your arrival as we do run a glider tow operation from the field and
depending on the weather I might be towing gliders also. There is also fairly
intense hang glider activity in the area, so keep a sharp lookout for slow
moving

traffic in the vacinity. Contact Chattanooga approach on 119.2 Mhz or 125.1 Mhz

for vectoring to the field.

We hope to see everyone there! If anyone has any other questions I can be
reached via e-mail or on my mobile at 423-240-0064.

Regards,

John Lawton
