Europa-List: Brake master Cylinder

Hi Team

As a diversion from trying to balance my carbs today (don't ask - not good
news) I decided I would adjust my brakes. I use the two tri-gear master
cylinders but in the wheel well, to provide finger brakes.

The first one went well (adjustment involves adding brake fluid into the
filler hole in the master cylinder), the second went really badly and I have
ended up cross-threading the filler screw.

Damn, big mistake as accessibility in there is not good.

Retapping is possible but I will have to be careful to keep the swarf away
and indeed to clean it out well.

Does anyone know what size the thread is ? It would seem to be the same size
as the drain plug on the oil reservoir.

Alternatively a new master cylinder is called for :-( Does anyone have a
spare or a source for this item ?

For now I have got the filler screw in and it doesn't leak but it is not a
permanent fix.

Tomorrow I will test-fly AGAIN to see if I have fixed the misfire. I found
that one throttle cable outer where it is fixed to the throttle lever
housing was loose. Access to that was fun too (involved removal from the
carbs) ! And of course that meant I had to balance the carbs again. I have
bought the 52 carb balancer but it gave weird readings, not helped by the
"Cable breaks -> full throttle" aviation approach. If I got the thing
balanced at 5000 rpm then it never got a sensible idle. Either one carb in
the green or the other - never both !

Does anyone have any advice ? I ended up making the adjustments until it
felt right ! So much for the balancing gauges ! I must have started it up 30
times today. Each time I got in, started up, took reading, stopped, jumped
out, made adjustments; got in .... All at Stapleford in the cold and on the
grass.

I am losing confidence in this thing - I have done 55 hours of which 25 have
been since the misfire started - it happens randomly but too often for
comfort. I never travel far from my home base now.
