Yes, but the insurance company is in the driver's seat when it comes
to defining whether this represents a material misrepresentation,
which could deny a claim under hull coverage in event of a loss.  If
it meets the FAA definition of motorglider, sold as such, and used
that way, it doesn't seem unreasonable under law to say the insured
has not provided necessary information for the insurer to assess risk
(e.g., use in unpowered flight).  It's not how you register it, nor is
the ops manual relevant. 

Just finished reading a book on aviation law, and this is one of a few
areas where the author/attorney gets a bit emotional!  IOW, fully
disclose to the insurer.
