If the cracking is discovered early enough, it should be acceptable to
file a large radius to remove the crack. Otherwise a new bracket would
be sensible. I think that welding could promote further cracking, but
welding a reinforcing strap if space permits would do the job. Rivetting
a reinforcement would also suffice.
