Hi Edward,

Basically, as far as I am aware the differences are that the XS kit is
delivered in a more complete form. The wings are more complete with
surface filling largely complete except where there are joints to fill.

The fusalage is surface filled too and this will save alot of time
painting with UV blocker. The fin is more complete on the XS, although I
believe that it still requires a top section.

The wings on the classic were constructed from shaped foam with glass
fibre and resin layups put over the top to create wing shapes, then began
the tedious job of filling and sanding. The original spec for the classic
wing as far as all up weight was concerned was lower than that of the XS
wing, however a weight mod that consisted of upgrading the lift pins to
half inch, giving an all up weight allowence of 1370lbs for the classic
wing put that situation right.

The original cockpit module gave less space for the pilot and passenger
due to a large central tunnel, however many people modified the tunnel
width in line with the XS module, and many people who bought the kit in
stages ( and build very slowly like us) actually purchased the XS cockpit
module to go within the classic fusalage,

The engine cowling changed from the classic to the XS and (correct me if I
am wrong) now can incorparate either the 914 or 912 within the same
dimensions. I believe that the original cowling was too small for the 914.

So all in all I believe that it is possible to have a Classic that has all
the upgraded features of the XS.

There might have been a long legs mod for the XS, and I am not entirely
sure it can be done on the classic unlike the 'lard arse' mod

Hope this helps

Eddie
