Like many europa builders I have been unsure how fast the europa really
really goes.
My aircraft has only done 15 hours so my results so far are very preliminary.
My a/c is an xs 914 with the airmaster v/p prop. I have fairings on the
out-riggers and a fair but not perfect finish.
I can make a comment on power and performance.
Initally I found at 8000 a true air speed of 135 kts at cruise setting of
5000revs. I established this with a number of two way runs and gps. I was
a little disappointed at this.
However I discovered that , [dopey me], I had not set the turbo waste gate
correctly and the manifold pressure on those runs was 22 inches.
When I set the waste gate up I got 33 inches at 8000 and 150kts.
This seems to demonstrate in real life that extra hp = more speed.
