I seem to remember an FAA alert (published in the back of Gasil in the UK
c.1991) that warned against glass-based insulation in contact with stainless
steel at temperatures above 500C; exhaust lagging having caused a problem.
Perhaps someone with more patience than I would search archives to try to
find the reference and further details?
