Shortly after the truck arrived and I unloaded all these really expensive
airplane parts into may garage I started wondering about insurance. I
called my insurance company and found out that my homeowners insurace did
not cover any parts etc of my kit. After a sleepless night just knowing my
shop would burn down (I figured the light bulb in the epoxy cabinet) I
called AVEMCO and purchased builders insurance. I bet some of the other
companys also offer it. I thought it was inexpensive at about $350 per year
for $40,000 in coverage. It is availiable only for kits and covers it as
you are building.
Maybe everyone already has coverage but if you don't you might want to check
into it.
