Dear Fellow EuropaPhils,
I found a neat piece of glider technology which can be applied for
use on our Europas.
Winter Instruments makes a five tube... color coded... quick
disconnect for pitot - static lines.
It was designed so that glider instrument panels can be quickly and
easily removed from gliders.
It is the ideal part for connecting the pitot - static lines from
the wing to the fuselage.
It is just like an electrical "canon-plug", only it connects pitot -
static lines.
There is only one way to connect the two halves, so the potential
for hooking up your pitot - static lines incorrectly is eliminated. It
is Neat! Neat! Neat!
For those contemplating the motorglider version of the Europa: the
five lines allows for the addition of a total energy probe and a line to
a variometer capacity flask.
For those interested in the Proprietary Software Systems "AOA
Professional" (www.aoa.com), which is a pressure based system with
static ports near the wing tip, this five line quick disconnect could
accommodate that system too.
In the U.S.A. it is available from Wings 'N Wheels, a glider supply
emporium in Jamestown, N.Y.
Cost is $38 US. Check out pg. 23 of the outline catalog
