Real Goods Corp of Ukiah, Calif. uSA sells a tubeform fabric-covered
water absorber
which can be wrung out and reused over and over.

Alternative: particles advertised as being water holders for plants,
etc. Maybe a removable tube installed under doors/windows to be
removable and oven heated to cook out moisture such as dessicant packed
with sensitive materials.
