Hello from Kim Prout,111EU. regarding antenna installations. The comm
antenna is vertically oriented as is the transponder antenna. I am
using Bob Archer antennas and as far as I am concerned, these are the
best. period... I can communicate over 100 nm out (using the Garmin
250) and typically use the radio around class B airspace 50 nm out.
The main thing in any antenna installation is to keep the entire
system balanced at 50 ohms, using the correct co-axial cable and
proper 50 ohm connections.
Bob Archer's antennas are available from aircraft spruce or directly
---From Bob Archer in Torrance, California. I don't have his phone # with
me at the moment but I will try to post it sometime soon. His company
name is Bob Archer Sport Aircraft Antennas. Good Luck!
