In a message dated 24/08/97 10:07:40, you write:

<< No, it shouldn't be, but it will develop stress cracks in some solvents
and it
 dissolves in chlrorinated ones.>>

Well mebbe there are different grades - I have replaced the tube three times
now and all have failed in a few days. They develop visible fracture lines
destroying the strengh of the material, which previously could hardly be
snapped by hand. The cracks are always in the lower part which is immersed,
so it must be the fuel rather than strain at the entry point. Have now put
a piece in a bottle of fuel to see what happens. The supplier hasn't been
able provide any grade or spec. for it yet.

Or is the unleaded up here like the whisky ? (:-))

There is a workaround. The Europa type clear flexible tube can be used if it
is arranged to slide into rigid tube (Cu, Al) fixed in the tank first.
Easier to replace this when it discolours than the sight gauge normally is.
