   What kind of "solid state fuses" did you see the critical
   design review I wrote on the "EXP Bus" and clones that feature
   the "solid state, self reseting circuit breakers"?

Poly fuses to be specific. No, I didn't see the review. I have an EXP BUS in my
possession and once I
Have got rid of their direct mounting switches (not the greatest design feature
I have seen) and bypassed the
Master relay (which is going firewall forward) I am happy with the unit. I have
no visible fuses (saved a heap of panel space) but do have a tidy indicator that
shows me when a fuse has failed which allows me to take the appropriate action.

I could have built the equivalent myself but the fuse and power monitoring on 
the
expansion board allows me to very nicely glue it into my flight management
system - the "experimental" part of my plane :)

I have used Poly Fuses on several electronic projects (I have a room full) and
they have always worked well to protect my electronic systems. My project before
the plane was a rather large computer controlled model railway with full power
and monitoring control. With voltages varying from -12 to +12, back emf like
you wouldn't believe and a very experimental computer environment I got quite
good at noise and power protection - poly fuses, MOV's and capacitors saved
my systems on more than a few occasions!
