<< Have you thought ??? Seriously, there are battery
powered socks available from some sporting goods
outlets that use about 5-10 watts per sock. Hunters
use ni-cad packs to power them. A simple interface
would let you power from ships d.c. power. >>
>>Here in our harsh So. Cal. winters, our open cockpit
pilots (ultralight-type, Baby Aces, etc.) use a heated
vest that is plugged into 12 volts.<<
Here's an opportunity for someone to be immortalized in
print by doing an article on relatively low-power, keep-
warm accessories. Trying to heat the whole cockpit
electrically can be very hard if not impossible.
Further, it seems that when you are sitting relatively
motionless for long periods of time, it's difficult to
keep warm with simple layering of garments . . . but
specific application of electric heat to body parts
reduces electrical system loads and allows the cookee
to adjust the cooker to his/her personal preference.
If someone would do the legwork in finding out what kind
of products are out there and what they cost, I'd be
happy to help with the writing . . .
