I'm of the same opinion, Graham. The only way to ensure there is no fuel
vapourisation problems is to use a return line as you suggest. Are you taking
the return immediately after the fuel pump? This must reduce the fuel line
pressure at the carbs, with the reducer fitted to the return line, presumably
the fuel pressure to the carbs is still sufficient? I am fitting a fuel flow
meter, this must go downstream of the return line (between return line & carbs),
otherwise it will register a much higher than actual fuel usage!

PS - Good to hear that John Tye's 'plane has flown, how did he get the finished
weight down to 730lbs? Must have flown it without the wings to get it that
light!<g>
