If you push a suitable rod (small screwdriver) up through the drain hole it will
retract the locking balls and push the pip-pin up without needing any special
tools.
This way you can make the pip pin holes just big enough for the pin itself.
We only worked this out after spending hours making a screw cap for the pip-pins
before deciding that a couple of cm of tape was neater, lighter and simpler.
