Paul,
I can understand your reluctance to go all glass. I've taken a mixed
approach. I just didn't want to go with a vacuum system, so I decided
to go with the EFIS. As a backup to possible failure, I installed an
ASI and ALT. With those and a compass, I'm confident that I could find
my way home, in case of an emergency. The Garmin 296 adds a little more
confidence. I really like that instrument...
