Alan,
4 plies of bid are plenty as the flap extensions are not really structural.
Just make sure to overlap it onto the flat by at least 2 inches. I dug out
all the foam because Im not going to be de-rigging and rigging a lot.
However Ive seen several that have left the foam in and funneled the
opening large to narrow so that the pin finds its way in for easy rigging
with one person.
