This really is rather sad. It finally appears we will have some Europas at our
(EAA Chapter 222) fly-in here in Stockholm and I will not be there. Work has
decided
to send me to Tel Aviv 1-12 June, unfortunate timing really.
I have not seen a complete (let alone flying!) Europa since Sept. '98 (when I
was
in Yorkshire). According to the latest newsletter the Europa company planes
were going to come and I was hoping SE-XRF would pop down from Lule as well.
For more info you can check out www.eaa.se and click on "Info om HuvudFlyIn
Barkarby 2001" - it is in English for those of you who have forgotten all of
that Swedish you learnt in school. If I remember correctly last year Avgas was
being sold (cheaper than usual) there at SEK 3.95 /litre (about EURO 0.44, GBP
0.27, DEM 0.86, USD 0.38 at today's rates). I think the normal price these days
is about SEK 5.50 /litre (not sure, never directly paid for Avgas yet!).
While you're there you may want to check out the (rather regularly updated) list
of experimental classed aircraft in Sweden ("Bygglista X-klass"). This is broken
up into 3 groups: "Under byggnad" ("under construction"), "Under flygutprovning"
("undergoing flight testing"), and "Flygande" ("flying"). Europas are
listed as "Shaw Europa". The P nn% means an active ("Pgende") build that is nn%
complete (i.e. P 35% = Active & 35% complete). The V means that the build is
inactive/"resting" ("Vilande").
Hmmm, back to building......

Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Sweden.
I'm looking for a passenger with a tooth brush! and UK and Continental
radio/navigation capability to accompany me on a flight in G-PTAG following
the new Europa Sales Executive(Mark Waite)firstly to Sweden, probably
leaving 30th or 31st May for 1st,2nd,3rd June in Sweden, probably staying
over to catch the similar Danish event on the following weekend before back
to "Blighty" on about 11th June.
In Sweden we will have accommodation at my Son's place in Stockholm but from
then on we will be probably camping.
No contribution to fuel costs is expected.
Cards on the table --- I'm quite a novice and was checked out on the PFA
Europa course only last Sunday doing my first solo UK cross country back to
Wickenby after returning the Coach to Finmere ! So I'm quite used to being
"dropped in the deep end"!
I had intended flying solo for the journey to Sweden but have recently bowed
to numerous peoples' advice ,and decided that " the ground is full of
aviators who didn't heed advice"!!!!
This trip is ideal for anyone on the brink of deciding which engine and /or
propeller to buy for their "steed"
Obviously time is now short, don't all rush at once but first come first
served !!!!
Best regards
Bob Harrison G-PTAG MKI Europa/Jabiru 3300
