Replacing the Mazda end housings with something lighter would likely take a
LOT of development work.
On the other hand, porting the engine will give significantly more
horsepower, thereby cleaning up the HP/Wt ratio. maybe that is the better
approach - just port it and lean it, and get out more of what it is
designed to deliver, instead of worrying about the relative weight.
