As Europa Club member ship secretary and usual first point of contact
with the Club, I've just received from Charlie Becker of EAA Aviation
Informaton Services some offers that may be of interest to Europa
people intending to go to Oshkosh in July. The following are extracts
---From his communications:

"Homebuilders Headquarters will again have a tent adjacent to the
building, which will be available for meetings, both planned and
informal, at AirVenture 2001. We invite you to use this space for a
meeting of Europa builders.
If you would like to reserve the use of this tent, you may write us a
note, e-mail or telephone ... We will be looking forward to your
response"
"AirVenture 2001 is coming up fast and planning is well underway. As
always, type clubs will play a significant role in making it a
memorable event for EAA members. If you are having a type club dinner
during AirVenture 2001, could you please complete the enclosed form
and return it by May 25th, 2001. This information will be included in
the AirVenture 2001 program and posted to the website.
Please let your membership know about the following AirVenture
Events, as appropriate.
Homebuilders Headquarters Dinner: Thursday, July 26th from 6pm - 9pm
at the EAA Nature Center.
This year's dinner will feature talks by designer John Monnett of
Sonerai, Moni and Sonex fame, who will be inducted into the EAA
Homebuilder's Hall of Fame in 2001. This is a casual event where
fellow Homebuilders can do a little hangar flying and enjoy some
great food and camaraderie. The dinner will once again be catered by
La Sure' Restaurant. Tram service to the Nature Center from
Homebuilders Headquarters will be provided. Tickets must be purchased
in advance at Homebuilders Headquarters.
Vintage Aircraft Association Picnic: Thursday, July 26th, actual
location to be determined.
Tickets may be purchased in advance at the VAA Headquarters in the
Red Barn. Trams from the Red Barn to the event wil begin around 5pm."

Personally, I'm not planning to be at AirVenture 2001, but I'm happy
to book the tent space or advertise any Europa Dinner on behalf of
those who will be there. I don't yet know of any plans, either by the
US people (Lakeland? the California Squadron? builders generally?) or
by the posse likely to travel from UK. If anyone planning anything
can get in touch with me in the next few days, I will make sure EAA
has the necessary information, and I will pass to EAA contact names
---From among those who will be on the spot.
Of course, we don't _have_ to respond to this, but I'm sure there
will be some get-together(s) of Europa people during the event, and
it seems good to take advantage of free (well, there was no mention
of any charge) facilities and publicity from EAA to make things go as
well as possible.
