Hi! Chaps.
Concerning my request for ideas about my radio reception being poor.
Thanks for the interest by Peter,Graham.S, Bill, Fred, and Fergus. I'll
apply myself further!
I'm guessing that Bill's idea of internal adjustment of the squelch control
may be the answer .
I've wanted my radio-pro to "get into it " but he has steadfastly refused on
the basis that all his test gismos say the thing is AOK. I think he's a
sadist and likes to see me squirm !
Saturday I'm taking it to an outfit at Halfpenny Green to let them do the
tweaking, and we'll see the result.
Sorry for omitting the symptoms.
Actually, it seems to loose its squelch control when receiving a weak signal
giving us bags of engine noise over their signal.
Our base at Wickenby are mostly using a hand held and we loose them at
about 3 miles any further
and we don't even get the set opening up at all , although they receive us
at about 25 miles and we hear other aircraft in the circuit talking to
Wickenby base..
No one else is complaining about the reception so the problem is peculiar to
G-PTAG
Best regards and thanks again for the "leg up".
