I checked my usual Europa sources (Europa newsletters and Europa web site)
and was unsuccessful in finding out any information about the plenum
chamber mod. I know I could e-mail Andy directly for more information, but
I am also curious how everyone else found out about this mod. It does seem
to be a worthwhile modification for those of us who live in warmer
climates.
By the way, here in the Central Valley of California,
25=B0C (77=B0F) would be a typical cool early morning.
30=B0C by late morning,
35=B0C by early afternoon, and
40=B0C (104=B0F) by late afternoon.
On a hotter than normal day, add a few degrees to each of the above.

Difference with the plenum chamber is about 100-200 RPM depending on the
outside temperature. The greatest difference you have is on a hot summer
day (>25=B0C) after taxiing. Under such conditions I had a static RPM drop o
f
> 200 RPM as the temp at the carbs got up to 60=B0C. With the plenum chamber
installed, you'll always get the temp down to outside temperature.
Difficult to measure the improvements in climb, but again on hot conditions
the improvement, especially at the initial climb phase, is significant.
Takeoff roll may be reduced by up to 30-50m and initial climb rate will
improve by 50-80 ft/min.
I have also the impression, that with the mod I got a slight improvement of
cruise performance and consumption.
Overall it's a very worthwhile mod which is reasonably easy to install also
on a finished plane.
