William,
It isn=99t that bad.
The best thing to do is go to www.faa.gov and hit the tab for license
and certificates then aircraft registration. Not a big deal. Quite a
bit of reading to get educated so some goombah doesn=99t lead you
down a bad path. Contact your US FAA Flight Standards District Office
(FSDO) for what they want specifically from you. Normally a letter from
the export country, your bill of sale (sale history) and an application
$5 fee, then a DAR will do an inspection and you get a US airworthiness
inspection provided it is airworthy. Kits are essentially the same,
except it is just the bill of sale and if the kit was registered, the
appropriate paperwork.
Look at the attached pamphlet for a start.
Best Regards,
Bud Yerly
