Paul,
A word of advise.

The Dynon Pitot with AOA (heated or not) is a good pitot, but the AOA is
not effective (in my opinion) unless the tip is near the leading edge
and dropped down using the now pretty standard Gretz mount.

As the air flows beneath the wing, the relative wind 4-6 inches off the
lower surface is nearly parallel to the wing lowr surface up to stall.
However, within a few inches (no more than about 8, it is not bad.

As for static ports, I was not impressed with the side ports in the
Europa. Especially with the flaps down on the old Classic. Slipping
did induce errors.

I prefer on all my IFR Europa's to use the XS pitot tube for the A/S and
the static for all instruments. This is dirt simple, the parts are in
the box, and since the Dynon pitot is located on the other wing, easy to
plumb.

Consider an Alternate Static Source. The Cockpit Static is quite good
in my flight tests in the trigear and mono over the entire speed range,
unless you have some sort of pressure ram air system with a tight
cockpit... Just in case you are flying in extreme icing as a death
defying feat.

I do not use a certified alternate static source valve. I install a
simple toggle valve which looks like a switch in the panel. Marvalve

It's fun to experiment if you are allowed.

Hi All, Just getting the pitot system installed & am wondering where
the best place for the 2 static ports should be? Ive already installed
the Dynon AOA/PITOT probe in the wing thus leaving the static ports to
be mounted. I'd like them near the front to keep the tubing runs short
if poss. Any ideas please? Paul Munford. Kit 625 trigear. THANKYOU
