Hi Franz,
You need a steel tube / bar that is a slip fit into the axle that is about
20'' long, a block of wood and a jack.
Remove the split pin and slacken the nut.
Slide the tube into the axle, put a jack under the end of the tube and lif
t the wheel clear of the ground.
Run the nut off onto the tube, followed by the wheel and bearings.
Put the block of wood under the axle and lower the jack. Bingo !
Refitting is the reverse, slide the tube through the bearings and wheel,
along with the nut, slide the assembly into the axle, pick up with the ja
ck, remove the wood block and slide the bearings / wheel onto the axle, ru
n the nut up until it nips.
Drop the jack, fit new splitpin.
Cheers,
Nev

Just another question:
Yep, the end of the winter is near, I'm thinking again about flying).
For my annual I need to take the main wheels of the ground, one at a time.
hat is the best way of doing so? I have the leg fairings installed, so
can't use the legs. The area where the leg protrudes from the fuselage
s curved, so I can't use a piece of wood either. Before I reinvent the
heel I would like to hear what others have thought out.
(In case you are wondering how I built this flying machine: I had a full
ength craddle, and lifted the entire airplane once the gear was ready
ith a hoist. Neither the hoist nor the craddle are available anymore).
Thanks,
rans
