Exactly what I have done. Yes, makes sense. Hard to read accurately
during flight due to its position however you still have the electric
fuel gauge and a mental note.

I have the Europa electric fuel gauge and retain the sight gauge
fitted on the stb side of the baggage bay. I am thinking of marking the
fuel quantities alongside the latter with the aircraft tail down, this
being for the gross fuel check before flight. Does this seem sensible?
