30 degree C CHT difference is normal -> Use only the rear CHT (hottest)
for decision making.
CHT > 240F will soften head castings despite manual
EGT in cruise should be 1350-1450 for 912s
Do not bother with coolant temperature measurement
Do not use Castrol GPS oil
Pensoil MC oil is fine despite not being listed as semisynthetic
Honda mc semisynthetic oil is also just fine but will never appear in
approved list
TCP additive is fine for engine when using leaded av gas, but it may react
with
plastics in tank or tubing to engine
set Idle rpm to 1400-1800, not lower despite manual
Synch carbs every 100 hrs
rebuild (service) carbs every 600 hr
always start engine at idle to allow function of enrichening circuit
do not bend carb idle stops, make sure quadrant stops protect card stops
at idle position
otherwise idle will get desynchronized
never, ever turn engine backwards!!!!! oil pump runs backward and will
embolise air into engine
this is very bad despite advise on web to do so!!!
gear box should get replacement spring washers at every service, i.e., 300
hrs
when replacing oil filter, rotate to touch gasket, then no more than
3/4ths turn
