Sorry to hear of the interuption of your great trip.........
Lightning has its bad points and thought i might draw attention to the
accident report of a glider struck (well outside a Cb) in southern England.
A good base rule is 20-25 miles outside a Cb below the freezing
level, and 15-20 miles above that line. Many strikes occur in clear air when
conditions are ripe, and it's our job to figure out what 'ripe' is.
The Schleicher soarplane in question is built very much like the
Europa and the construction topic is pertinent.
