Hi!Guys.(UK)
Just to inform you don't think you can do a raffle for a charity flight. A
Gatwick CAA top dog phoned me on a THursday night AT 19.30 HOURS ! since
some prat told them I was organising a raffle to raise funds for a Charity
Cancer Equipment fund! Apart from the time of day I was surprised they even
knew where Caistor is !
It seems that even though all the funds go to the charity and you pay for
the fuel youself and provide the necessary insurance and aircraft free of
charge they consider that the winner has a "commercial contract" for you to
provide a flight which is not permitted under "Permit to Fly" Aircraft
Rules.
Anyway even under the weight of the almighty CAA I still raised 275 clear
after purchasing a discount lesson for 65.! Note ... the school couldn't
provide a flight either only a lesson ! and then I gave the Air Cadet who
assisted with ticket sales a flight quite legally under Permit to Fly Rules
!!!!
No wonder GA in the UK is so difficult to keep in the air it's over weight
with paperwork, regulations, and regulations.
Regards to all.
